Wedding Cameras Can Be Great for Guests to Use

Gaining in popularity recently is getting wedding cameras for guests to use at the reception. Place one or two on each table.
It is fun for them and helps them to get to know people they are just meeting as they have something in common they can do together.
Disposable cameras can be a lot of fun and often the only picture you get of your guests is the photos taken at the table or around the reception area.

These cameras allow you to capture a variety of candid's of everyone at the reception.
It gives you more time with your photographer to get the more formal photos that every couple wants to document their day of days.
Include instructions as to what you would like your guests to do by putting a small placard next to the camera on their table.
It could say "Snap a few pictures and pass it along, then leave it on the table to help us keep our memories."
You will probably be surprised at the neat and creative photos you get along with shots of family and friends.
You might want to give each table a different photo assignment such as kissing, funny, "artsy", or if you are lettering your tables have the guests take pictures of things starting with that letter.
Be sure to make clear the camera should be passed around to each person at the table.
For that gap in time, after the wedding and until the reception actually starts when formal photographs are being taken, can be filled with a photo scavenger hunt.
Place a camera on the table with a list of items they must find and take a picture of.
Some ideas for them to photograph might be:
Candles
Black dress shoes
Floral arrangements
Wedding Cake
Signing the guest book
Food
A baby
Band or DJ
Guests as they arrive at the reception
Any other ideas might you have
Write several different lists and assign the guest book attendant to pass them out. With a number of lists you won't get as many duplicates.
Another idea is to give several people a camera before the wedding and ask them to take candid pictures as guests arrive for the ceremony and as they are leaving right after the ceremony.
Don't forget to send a thank you note later thanking them for their efforts.
Your wedding cameras can be disposable cameras. They even offer them in different colors if you want to match them to your theme colors.
Some of the newer disposable cameras even have a zoom lens for nicer pictures.
You can usually find them at discount or drug stores and, of course, you can find them
offered by many places on the internet.
Actually you are not limited to disposable cameras as there are rental services that offer digital cameras.
You can see how great it will be to have the wedding cameras available for all those candid pictures from your wedding day and what fun it will be for your guests as it makes them feel even more a part of your very special day.

Disposable Wedding Camera Tips & Tricks for Your Wedding Day and Reception

It has become popular to put a disposable camera, usually the type that includes a built-in flash unit, on each table at the reception with the idea that the guests at that table will use the 27 frames of film to take photos in and around their table, and the bride and groom will develop the film and have the photos that are created to enjoy and possibly augment their wedding album.

You may want to use disposable cameras on your reception tables but are unsure what to buy or what you'll receive when you go to develop them. Not to worry, we have put together a small list of things you should be aware of when purchasing and using disposable wedding cameras at your event.
  1. Flash & Film Speed: Make sure the cameras you purchase have at least 400 speed film and include a built in flash. This will ensure that the photo is captured with just the right amount of lighting. 400 speed film is all around general usage, and works well in any situation.
  2. Design: With so many choices in camera casings, you can pick something that goes with your theme, such as a beach wedding, a garden party or a rose theme.
  3. Casing: Although paper-casing cameras are usually cheaper, they are not waterproof. If someone spills a drink on them, it could result in lost pictures.
  4. Film: Black and white photos vs color. Color photos will capture all the beautiful details you worked so hard to have for your wedding (flowers, centerpieces, table linens, favors). Black and white film is typically more expensive but will give your photos a more vintage, classic feel.
  5. Recycled or Brand New? Recycled cameras are just that: recycled, previously used. They have been refilled with film and resold. As with purchasing any used product, there may be some defects. Typically the cheaper priced cameras are recycled, so you should look out for this if the prices seem to good to be true.
  6. Exposures: If you're having a longer reception, splurge and purchase 27 exposure cameras, or two 15 exposure cameras. People enjoy taking pictures - and if they run out of film too soon they may be disappointed.
  7. Quantity: After deciding on the above options, you'll need to decide on how many cameras to purchase and where they will be placed. Typically you would purchase one camera per table of guests. Some cameras come with a "Table Tent" which is a decorative card placed beside the camera on the table. The card informs your guests about the camera and how to use it.
  8. Expiration date: Although planning ahead is a wonderful thing, getting your cameras too far before your wedding is not. Cameras should be 1 to 2 years ahead of the current date. If you purchase them in advance make sure to store them away from heat, light and moisture.
  9. Photo Taking: Sometimes, it takes someone at the table to take the first shot to "get the ball rolling". Since you may be afraid that a table may not take any shots, you may want to assign this "task" to one of your bridesmaids or groomsmen. Pick someone who is outgoing and doesn't mind talking to people. Have them go to each table and take a picture or two then pass it to another guest at the table. Have your attendant make sure the table knows how to advance the film, make sure the flash is charged and advise them to make sure they leave behind the cameras. If you rather not assign this task to someone, you can advise the DJ to make an announcement to the tables to take the pictures.
  10. Collecting: You don't want to forget the cameras before you leave! Assign this to one of the wedding attendants to collect the cameras before the night's end. If you're leaving right away for your honeymoon, you can also ask a good friend (such as the maid of honor or best man) to have the cameras brought in for developing, so they will be ready to view when you return.
